A Mini-Rant on why You may not be a Real ‘Single Mother’, & More
I have three small topics I want to quickly address – (1) The single mother monicker. More specifically, women who refer to themselves ‘single mothers’. (2) The disrespectful humiliation of high school wrestler Andrew Johnson. (3) The criticisms offered by Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless on Charles Barkley. But first, Happy 2019 to all the readers! I wish everyone a blessed, bountiful, productive year. Hopefully, whatever baggage, toxicisms (yes it’s a word to me, so what) and drama you endured, you left it in the rearview mirror. Remember, life moves forward and everything you go through is a learning experience. Having said that let’s get on with it with our first…

Crushing Championship Game 7 Losses
Here you have it – it’s do or die. The series is tied at three games a piece and winner-take-all game 7 is looming on the horizon. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the 1st round or the finals/World Series. If your team is the underdog going into the series, you sit thinking, hoping, and praying they can pull off the upset. If your team is the favorite, you’re worried, borderline frantic, and your nails have been reduced to nubs. You’re wondering to yourself: “How did this happen?”…. “What the f*ck is going on here?” Well, lets dissect some of the more crushing game 7 losses in sports history. LA…

Kobe at it Again? Somebody get This Brotha a Onesie
“Kobe Bryant’s wrath hasn’t just been felt by the front office this season. His poor teammates have certainly not been spared, according to Nick Young: Nick Young shares Kobe Bryant’s recent trash talk: “I don’t talk to players on teams that are 20 games under .500.” – Excerpt courtesy of SlamOnline.com I wrote an article on Bryant last season questioning whether he was a good teammate or petulant whiner. Well he’s at it again, this time chiding his teammates for having a losing record. I’m not going to go into another Kobe rant but that quote says it all right here. You know what… I will rant one more time (I think). The bottom…

From Superstar to no Star: Athlete Careers That Were cut Short
“He’s going to be the next…..” “We have a future (fill in the blank) on our hands” “Wait until he hits his prime” “He’s a future Hall of Famer” These were many of the cliches’ that described athletes over the course of time. There have been many a high school/college phenoms that have come out and fizzled under the burden of injuries, miscalculated career-shortening moves, and the grueling perseverance it takes to succeed as an athlete. These athletes are ones that have that “what could have been, should have been” stigma. I didn’t include athletes that have passed away because we all know you can’t necessarily help that. However, the…

Lord of the Rings: Phil Jackson a Legend or Lucky S.O.B.?
“This year there’s no maybe” was Phil Jackson’s answer heading into the 2010-2011 season when asked if it was his last year ever since The LA Lakers single-handedly embarrassed him on his way out of the NBA with their uninspired play and unprofessional conduct on the court (Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum both being ejected). They suffered a 122-86 game 4 evisceration from the Dallas Mavericks (Dallas swept the best of 7 series 4-0). We all thought he was done with coaching. After all, he’s 5th all time in wins with 1155, and has won 12 NBA titles, 11 of them as a coach. He has guided the careers…

Rants on Coming out the Closet, Kissing Babies and More
Quite a few news worthy items came up over the last few weeks and once again allow me to give my 2 cents worth, actually a nickel’s worth on what’s going on. If you are offended in any way please don’t be, we wouldn’t be called ‘Opinionated Male’ to begin with right?….Right. So let’s chop it up. I’m coming out. I want the world to know. So current NBA player Jason Collins has come out and revealed he’s a homosexual. So…And?! Now before I get hammered for saying this, let me explain. First off, this shouldn’t have been made a major deal simply because he’s gay. There have been many…

Kobe Bryant: Good Teammate or Petulant Whiner?
“Wait you mean they couldn’t get Jason Kidd for Andrew Bynum? Bynum? Who’s that kid anyway”? Kobe Bryant reacting as to why the Lakers wouldn’t trade Andrew Bynum for Jason Kidd during the 2007-08 season…. “Smush Parker was the worst, he shouldn’t have been in the NBA but we were too cheap to pay for a point guard so we let him walk on”……Real stand up isn’t it? Kobe ‘Bean’ Bryant is an extremely talented player, has won many accolades, and is a lock for the Hall Of Fame. He has a silky smooth jump shot, athletic drives to the basket and sometimes he’ll surprise you with a rim rocking…
